Simple Fudge Recipe

Simple Fudge Recipe

I have a Simple Fudge Recipe using just 3 ingredients.  I make this during the holidays and it makes great neighbor gifts.  This year I added a few drops of doTERRA Madagascar Vanilla essential oil and sprinkled a little kosher salt on top.   It's delicious, easy to make and yummy, creamy fudge.

Simple Fudge Recipe

Don't skimp on the chocolate chips and get the good ones!  My favorite are Ghirardelli semi-sweet chocolate chips.  Be sure you are using sweetened condensed milk and not evaporated.  Because we are adding sweetened milk I like to use the semi-sweet chocolate chips.  The fudge comes out so creamy and not too sweet.
INGREDIENTS:
  • 18 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla extract*
  • Kosher salt sprinkled on top (optional)
  • ½ cup chopped nuts (optional)

DIRECTIONS:

Melt chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk over low heat stirring frequently. When almost melted add the vanilla. *Add a few drops of doTERRA pure Madagascar Vanilla for extra yumminess. If you like nuts you can add ½ cup of nuts.
.
Once the chocolate is melted it will look a little shiny.  Pour the fudge into a square 8" x 8" dish and let it set for 4 hours.  I like to use freezer paper so that it is easier to get the fudge out when it's time to slice it up.  I like to use a pizza cutter and just roll it through.

Baking with essential oils

If you are choosing to add essential oils to your recipe be sure you are using oils labeled "safe for internal use."  You will see this on the bottle.  If your essential oil bottle is labeled "for topical use only" then it is most likely an essential oil not used internally or it is a fragrance oil and not a pure essential oil.

The essential oil industry is not regulated and synthetic fragrances with a drop of essential oil can be labeled as "essential oils."  To be sure you are using pure essential oils it is best top stick to brands you have researched and trust they only use pure ingredients without synthetic fillers and additives.  These are actually fragrance oils and not food safe.

This is why I choose doTERRA essential oils.  Every drop is third party tested and pure essential oil without synthetic fragrances, fillers or additives. It's best to purchase directly from the company and not on resale sites such as Amazon. These sellers are unauthorized.  Anyone can purchase a cap for 50 cents and add whatever they want inside the bottle and replace the cap.  It's more likely you will get adulterated essential oils from resale sights such as Amazon.

Simple Fudge Variations

Using the recipe above, you may want to switch things up a little and try one of these variations.

Peppermint fudge

Substitute semi-sweet chocolate chips with white chocolate chips and add a few drops of peppermint essential oil.  Instead of sprinkling kosher salt on top sprinkle some crushed candy canes.

Wild Orange Fudge

Substitute a couple drops of wild orange essential oil for the vanilla for an orange-chocolate fudge.

Oreo Fudge

Substitute semi-sweet chips with white chocolate chips and add a cup of crushed sandwich cookies (like Oreo).  Add the cookie pieces once the fudge is almost melted.  Break up a few cookies into 1/4th and place them on top of the fudge for decoration.

I hope you found this recipe easy, simple and so delicious!  Happy Holidays!
